5 Best Gyms In Killeen – Texas

Killeen is best known for Fort Hood so I wasn’t surprised to find a number of martial arts gyms in the area. But that’s not all Killeen offers! And if you’re hunting for Kileen’s best gyms, I’ve chosen and reviewed the 5 best options right here.

The Best Gyms In Killeen Are:

  • Planet Fitness – Best For Affordability & Accessibility
  • Collier’s Fitness Express – Best Local Gym & Personal Training Services
  • BEFIT – Best Group Training Programs & Fitness Community
  • TruFit Athletic Club – Best Facilities & Group Fitness Classes
  • TITLE Boxing Club – Best For Martial Arts & Weight Loss

One of these gyms is a real hidden gem and another offers super unique workouts, so you’re going to want to find out more about them. I give my reasons for choosing these gyms below along with the benefits, drawbacks, prices, and who should sign up.

Does Killeen Have Good Gyms?

Killeen TX offers a good choice of gyms, including famous 24-hour gym chains, boutique fitness studios, and personal training gyms. Known for Fort Hood military base, Killeen also has a variety of local martial arts gyms!

Gyms In Killeen: 5 Best Options

1. Planet Fitness – Best For Affordability & Accessibility

Planet Fitness - Best For Affordability & Accessibility
  • Address: 1001 E Veterans Memorial Blvd, Killeen (plus another location at 3606 W Stan Schlueter Loop, Killeen)
  • Hours: 24 hours
  • Price: Memberships from $10/mo
  • Sign up fees: $1-39
  • No lock-in contracts: Available
  • Free trial: 1 day
  • Group fitness: None

Planet Fitness has two locations in Killeen – both 24 hours. Hardcore gym users will shrug this one off but for beginners and casual gym-goers on a tight budget, Planet Fitness Killeen is worth talking about.

What Are The Gym Benefits?

This Planet Fitness gym is large, spacious, and equipped with all the basics for cardio and strength training. There are multiple squat racks and even a functional fitness area (with pull up bars, yoga balls, kettlebells, TRX straps), plus massage chairs and tanning beds.

It’s open 24 hours but even if you want to avoid peak times, this is a gym where you won’t be judged. This location is the largest of the two Planet Fitness gyms in Killeen, but another benefit is accessing both if you go for the PF Black Card membership.

What Do You Need To Know Before Purchasing A Membership?

If you just want to work out, Classic membership is dirt cheap at $10/mo. This comes with 12 months commitment, though, so you might prefer the No Commitment membership for $15/mo. Both these memberships have a $59 startup fee.

Unlike Classic and No Commitment, PF Black Card membership gives you access to any Planet Fitness Gym with perks that include guest passes and access to facilities (tanning and massage chairs, in this case) for $24.99/mo.

There’s no startup fee for PF Black Card, but it does lock you in for 12 months.

All memberships have a $39 annual fee.

Are There Any Drawbacks?

I don’t want to generalize Planet Fitness, but its gyms are known for being busy and disorganized due to popularity among gym newbies and beginners.

Who Should Work Out Here?

Sign up if you’re brand new to the gym, on a tight budget, or want the convenience of two 24-hour locations. If you don’t like fees, unracked weights, or waiting to use machines, however, give this one a pass.

2. Collier’s Fitness Express – Best Local Gym & Personal Training Services

Collier’s Fitness Express - Best Local Gym & Personal Training Services
  • Address: 2330 Verna Lee Blvd, Harker Heights
  • Hours: 24 hours
  • Price: $28/mo for gym membership, $35 for small group training, $48 for one-on-one personal training
  • Sign up fees: $20 for the access code
  • No lock-in contracts: Available
  • Free trial: None
  • Group fitness: Limited

Collier’s Fitness Express is a hidden gem located in Harker Heights (5 to 10 minutes drive from Killeen) that deserves a spot here for its personal training services. It’s also the best gym in the area if you like to work out with zero distractions or interruptions!

What Are The Gym Benefits?

First things first, Collier’s is a local neighborhood gym run by certified fitness trainer Greg, who’s as friendly as he is knowledgeable. The gym is stocked with premium machines and equipment, offering a quiet, uncrowded atmosphere with 24-hour access.

On top of its no-hassle, no-contract monthly gym membership, Collier’s offers small group training, one-on-one training, and nutrition coaching, plus a choice of therapeutic massage services (Greg is also a licensed massage therapist) for rehabilitation and recovery.

What Do You Need To Know Before Purchasing A Membership?

The gym membership is $28/mo (plus tax), with a one-time $20 fee for the access code. The standard 30-day cancellation policy applies.

Small group training is $35 per session and one-on-one training is $48 per session.

If you want to lose weight but don’t want to work out, the 12-week nutrition coaching program starts from $500.

Are There Any Drawbacks?

None!

Who Should Work Out Here?

Collier’s is worth joining if you like quiet gyms, attentive personal training, and friendly gym owners! But if you don’t like intimate local gyms with old-school-looking machines and equipment, you’ll want to consider other options.

3. BEFIT – Best Group Training Programs & Fitness Community

BEFIT - Best Group Training Programs & Fitness Community
  • Address: 2800 E Veterans Memorial Blvd, Suite B, Killeen
  • Hours: Monday–Friday 5am–8pm, Saturday 8am–12pm
  • Price: Programs starting from $99
  • Sign up fees: N/A
  • No lock-in contracts: Available
  • Free trial: Free consultation
  • Group fitness: Extensive

BEFIT Killeen is a training facility like no other in the area. In its warehouse-style indoor and outdoor facility, BEFIT provides diverse workout programs for both groups and individuals, with a friendly community and a team of experienced coaches.

What Are The Gym Benefits?

The main benefit here is the dynamic workouts. If you enjoy functional fitness training as much as lifting weights, BEFIT’s group training and private training programs keep things exciting with diverse exercises that even include tire flipping and pulling cars!

As a bonus, the members and staff are friendly and supportive, making BEFIT ideal if you like the atmosphere of CrossFit gyms or high-energy bootcamps. Nutrition programming is available too, plus an Elite Athlete Camp for both budding and professional athletes.

What Do You Need To Know Before Purchasing A Membership?

Unfortunately, BEFIT wants you to call or visit before giving you the exact prices. But depending on the type and length of the program you want, their prices start from $99.

Are There Any Drawbacks?

Aside from the disclosed prices? None.

Who Should Work Out Here?

Want tailored programs, mixed workouts, and a genuine sense of community? Those are your reasons to join. But if you like the sound of community-style group training but prefer CrossFit, look at CrossFit Cataclysm Killeen instead.

4. TruFit Athletic Club – Best Facilities & Group Fitness Classes

TruFit Athletic Club - Best Facilities & Group Fitness Classes
  • Address: 902 W Central Texas Expy, Killeen
  • Hours: 24 hours on weekdays, Saturday–Sunday 7am–9pm
  • Price: Memberships from $10/mo
  • Sign up fees: None
  • No lock-in contracts: Available
  • Free trial: 7 days
  • Group fitness: Extensive

I’ve included TruFit a few times in my Texas gym reviews but the reason is simple: it’s a full-service fitness club with a price that’s hard to argue with. So if you’re on a budget but want gym access, group classes, and great facilities, there’s simply nothing better.

What Are The Gym Benefits?

TruFit Fort Hood St has a fully equipped fitness floor, a diverse group class schedule (including Zumba, aqua, cycle), and facilities that include a pool and sauna. So if your ideal fitness routine involves a bit of everything, this fitness club checks all the boxes.

“Affordable luxury” is the name of the game at TruFit, so the facilities, workout spaces, and equipment are modern and regularly cleaned. Personal training is also available here if you need it, and you can even enjoy a long 7-day free trial before choosing to commit.

What Do You Need To Know Before Purchasing A Membership?

Basic, Essentials, and Results+ are the three membership choices.

Essentials gives you access to classes and massage services while Results+ gives you the perks of Essentials but with childcare, guest privileges, and TruPower HIIT classes.

Basic doesn’t include any of the above (it’s gym access only, essentially) and limits you to one TruFit club.

As for prices, Basic is $10/mo, Essentials is $23/mo, and Results+ is $33/mo. There’s a $49 annual fee billed after 60 days.

To cancel, give them 45 days’ notice.

Are There Any Drawbacks?

None. This is a great TruFit club to join too, as not all their locations have a swimming pool!

Who Should Work Out Here?

This is an easy choice if your budget is limited but you want the versatility of gym access, group fitness classes, and club facilities. The only reason to not sign up here is if you need better equipment for powerlifting or Olympic weightlifting.

5. TITLE Boxing Club – Best For Martial Arts & Weight Loss

TITLE Boxing Club - Best For Martial Arts & Weight Loss
  • Address: 2904 E Stan Schlueter Loop, Bldg B, Killeen
  • Hours: Monday 4:30am–9pm, Tuesday 9am–7:30pm, Wednesday 4:30am–9pm, Thursday 5am–7:30pm, Saturday 9am–1:30pm, Sunday 10am–1:30pm
  • Price: Memberships from $59/mo, $24 for class drop-in
  • Sign up fees: None
  • No lock-in contracts: Available
  • Free trial: 1 free class
  • Group fitness: Extensive

Killeen has several martial arts gyms but I’m singling out TITLE for its specialized boxing and kickboxing workouts, cardio training, awesome coaching team, and flexible memberships. So if traditional workouts bore you, TITLE Boxing Club is worth checking out.

What Are The Gym Benefits?

The classes are fast-paced and energetic but that doesn’t mean beginners aren’t welcome. With a simple choice of boxing or kickboxing workouts—both starting with mobility drills and HIIT—you’ll lose weight and get stronger while building fast-twitch speed and power.

As a result, these are 100% full-body workouts, so don’t let the boxing aspect put you off. The coaches are also friendly and supportive, and there’s no judgment because the members make up all ages and abilities. Overall, TITLE serves up martial arts classes that are simple yet effective.

What Do You Need To Know Before Purchasing A Membership?

TITLE Boxing offers four memberships for every level of commitment.

Unlimited Club gives you unlimited classes and all-club access for $109 month-to-month while Unlimited TITLE is the same but with a 12-month contract, billed at $89/mo.

8x/Month membership allows you 8 classes per month for $79/mo while 4x/Month membership allows 4 classes per month at $59/mo. These memberships are single-club access, however.

So except for Unlimited TITLE, the other three memberships are month-to-month with a 30-day cancellation policy.

But take note: all the above prices don’t include tax.

Not sure? You can have 1 free class on them. After that, drop-ins cost $24 per class.

Are There Any Drawbacks?

Not a drawback for everyone, but first-timers might find the classes difficult and intense.

Who Should Work Out Here?

If you’re interested in boxing, kickboxing, or cardio with a twist, these are all great reasons to join. I’d also join if you want to learn self-defense and build up your confidence.

I’ve mentioned that Killeen has several martial arts gyms so if TITLE Boxing Club doesn’t interest you, other options to look at are Strike and Submit Martial Arts and Fitness, EJK Boxing & Fitness Club, Clark’s Boxing Gym, and Terra Leon Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
