Heading to Hollywood? The vibrancy and popularity of this neighborhood means there’s a great choice of gyms to choose from.

This also means that it can be hard to know which one to join! But don’t fret – I’ve rounded up and reviewed Hollywood’s best five options.

The Best Gyms in Hollywood are:

  • Equinox Hollywood Best Member Facilities
  • LIFT Society Best Weightlifting Classes for Beginners
  • Barry’s Hollywood Best for High-Energy Group Fitness Classes
  • Gold’s Gym Hollywood Best All-Purpose Gym
  • F45 Hollywood Best for Group Functional Fitness

You might recognize some of those names but, hey… no two gym franchises are the same.

These were all chosen for specific reasons, which I give below alongside the benefits, drawbacks, and membership prices.

Want to know who should join and who should avoid? Find that out below as well.

Does Hollywood Have Good Gyms?

5 Best Gyms In Hollywood - California

Hollywood is an iconic place so, as you’d expect, there’s a superb choice of gyms here.

No matter what you’re looking for, you’ll find commercial gyms, boutique fitness studios, and even a few family-run gyms in this neighborhood.

In other words, Hollywood has it all.

How Did I Pick The Best Gyms In Hollywood?

1. Appeal & Popularity

With its buzzing showbiz scene and vibrant nightlife, Hollywood is a place that attracts the outgoing and ambitious.

And for some people in Hollywood, choosing a gym can be as much about being seen than working out.

For that reason, I picked Hollywood’s best gyms with popular appeal.

2. Facilities & Services

Hollywood is a bustling neighborhood, needless to say.

And what better way to take a break than by having saunas or massage services at your disposal?

For winding down post-workout, I’ve included Hollywood’s best gyms with premium facilities and services.

3. Group Fitness

Some of us just work harder in groups with instructors who guide and motivate.

And since Hollywood can also be considered a sociable, lively place, it made sense to include the best group fitness studios this neighborhood has to offer.

Gyms In Hollywood: 5 Best Options

1. Equinox Hollywood – Best Member Facilities

Equinox Hollywood CA

Not all Equinox Clubs promise the premium facilities they’re known for, but as this one’s in Hollywood, it offers the full package.

This isn’t just a gym but a complete health and wellness club. Want luxury facilities and maybe a sense of exclusivity? Equinox Hollywood won’t disappoint.

What Are The Gym Benefits?

The main benefit is the facilities and services.

Equinox Hollywood boasts a steam room, massage spa, indoor pool, state-of-the-art locker rooms and showers, member’s lounge, member parking, kids club, onsite Equinox shop, and separate studio spaces for group fitness, yoga, and cardio.

It’s all clean and pristine here. And the gym is no exception, featuring high-end machines, benches, and free weights.

There’s also a non-stop weekly class schedule offering cycling, boxing, martial arts, Pilates, heated yoga, and running – to name just a few.

What Do You Need To Know Before Purchasing A Membership?

It might come as no surprise that joining Equinox comes with a high price tag.

You’re looking at $250 per month for this location, typically with a lock-in contract, on top of a hefty initiation fee (varies by location, but can set you back in the hundreds).

Are There Any Drawbacks?

Equinox is not cheap obviously. And to find out exactly what Equinox Hollywood (all Equinox Clubs, for that matter) offers membership and price-wise, it requires contacting them for more information.

Who Should Work Out Here?

Anyone seeking a premium gym with luxury health and wellness facilities—plus extensive group fitness classes—with an open-ended budget.

If you don’t want to part with a few hundred bucks every month, however, look elsewhere!

2. LIFT Society – Best Weightlifting Classes For Beginners

LIFT Society Hollywood CA
  • Websitehttps://liftsociety.com/
  • Address: 7300 W Sunset Boulevard, Hollywood
  • Hours: Mon–Fri 6am–8pm, Sat-Sun 6am–1pm
  • Price: $260 per month (no contract)
  • Sign up fees: None
  • No lock-in contracts: None
  • Free trial: 1 day
  • Group fitness: Limited

Want to get big and strong but don’t know what progressive overload is? LIFT Society is right up your alley.

This place is all about providing traditional weightlifting training for beginners with a boutique feel, offering small, focused classes taught by certified pros.

What Are The Gym Benefits?

Sure, commercial gyms provide all the machines and equipment for building strength and muscle, but knowing what to do is another thing.

If you relate, LIFT Society is here to help.

With small semi-private and private classes guided by expert lifters, you won’t have to worry about form, exercises, or how many reps and sets you should be doing – all the things that, let’s face it, overwhelm most of us now and then.

There’ll be no newbie judgment either, as you can expect most classes to consist of beginners.

The weightlifting equipment is top-notch (it’s a boutique gym, after all) and, as a bonus, used individually and sanitized after every class. No sharing sweaty barbells here!

What Do You Need To Know Before Purchasing A Membership?

Membership costs $260 per month, no contract with the ability to cancel at any time. Not sure? You can have your first 1-hour class for $35.

Are There Any Drawbacks?

It might be called LIFT Society but this isn’t a walk-in strength training gym. So if you’re the kind of lifter who likes to put your headphones on and do your own thing, you won’t get that here.

Who Should Work Out Here?

Beginners who want to get serious about lifting weights and putting on muscle—but never know where to start—will feel right at home.

If you’re a powerlifter or bodybuilder who knows what you’re doing, though, LIFT Society isn’t the lifting gym you probably had in mind.

3. Barry’s Hollywood – Best For High-Energy Group Fitness Classes

Barry’s Hollywood CA
  • Website: https://www.barrys.com/studio/hollywood/
  • Address: 6201 Hollywood Boulevard, Suite 110, Hollywood

  • Free trial: None
  • Group fitness: Extensive

Barry’s is known for its HIIT workouts, targeting maximum fat loss with a combination of running, interval training, and free weight lifting.

Classes are high-intensity and led by motivational instructors, making it a great option for beginners and anyone who simply works harder in high-energy environments!

What Are The Gym Benefits?

Barry’s instructors bring the energy, so you can be sure that each class will push you to keep going.

And as long as you’re willing to give your all, Barry’s claims you’ll burn up to 1000 calories in a 55-minute class, with a metabolic after-effect burns calories even after you’re done.

The result is fast weight loss. You’ll work up a sweat and that’s why Barry’s Hollywood also offers separate men’s and women’s changing areas, hot showers, and complimentary towels.

Locker rooms are available here, plus a fuel bar for high-protein shakes and snacks.

What Do You Need To Know Before Purchasing A Membership?

Memberships cost $205 per month for 8 monthly classes, $280 per month for 12 classes, $345 per month for 16 classes, and $400 for 30 classes.

It’s $32 for 1 class, but if you want to purchase class packages, it’s $155 for 5, $300 for 10, $720 for 35, and $1375 for 50.

There’s no free trial at Barry’s, but you can get a first-timer 3-class pack for $100 or a 2-week membership (1 class per day) for $198.

Are There Any Drawbacks?

Lose fat and tone up here, but don’t expect to build big muscles (if that’s what you’re after).

Who Should Work Out Here?

If you want to shed body fat and tone up fast, Barry’s is worth trying.

If you’re just not into group fitness classes—or even loud, high-energy environments—Barry’s is definitely not for you.

4. Gold’s Gym Hollywood – Best All-Purpose Gym

Gold’s Gym Hollywood CA
  • Website: https://www.goldsgym.com/hollywoodca/
  • Address: 1016 Cole Avenue, Hollywood
  • Hours: Mon–Fri 5am–12am, Sat–Sun 7am–6pm
  • Price: $49.95 per month for Single Club membership, $59.99 per month for Platinum Gold Club membership
  • Sign up fees: $59 for Single Club membership
  • No lock-in contracts: Available
  • Free trial: 7 days
  • Group fitness: Extensive

Gold’s Gyms are different depending on where you go, but Gold’s Hollywood is definitely one to consider for all-purpose training.

Why? It’s massive and fully equipped with cardio and strength training machines, lots of benches and free weights, and even a handful of squat racks with enough plates to go around.

What Are The Gym Benefits?

All in all, this is the best choice for general fitness.

Simply put, it’s huge – there are multiple training areas ( sections for strength training, cardio, functional fitness, cycling, and boxing), plus a group fitness studio where you can join a wide choice of group fitness classes, such as yoga, Zumba, and strength building.

Amenities and services are also available, including a sauna/steam room, smoothie bar, nutrition counseling, and personal training.

This location is super popular, so you can expect a diversity of gym-goers here, which also means zero judgment if you’re a total newbie.

What Do You Need To Know Before Purchasing A Membership?

Gold’s likes to hide its prices but here’s what I can tell you: Single Club membership at Gold’s Hollywood is $49.95 per month and Platinum Gold Club membership is $59.99 per month.

Single Club membership comes with a $59 processing fee while Platinum Gold Club membership has none.

Both memberships are month-to-month (no lock-in). The only differences are that Platinum Gold gives you multi-club access, plus the first month free.

There’s a $49 annual fee for both memberships, billed 60 days after joining. You might also be required to pay the first and last month dues upfront!

Are There Any Drawbacks?

This is a popular Hollywood gym so it might get crowded at times – despite its massive size.

This also presents other drawbacks, such as unracked weights and waiting for machines.

Who Should Work Out Here?

Looking for Hollywood’s largest, fully equipped gym with a great atmosphere? This one’s worth checking out for these reasons.

If you don’t like crowds, unracked weights, or the possibility of waiting for machines, though, I’d consider other options before signing up.

5. F45 Hollywood – Best for Group Functional Fitness

F45 Hollywood CA
  • Website:https://f45training.com/hollywoodca/home
  • Address: 6430 Sunset Boulevard, Hollywood
  • Hours: Mon–Sun 5:00am–9:00pm
  • Price: $25 drop-in classes, class packages from $109, and $139 for monthly membership
  • Sign up fees: None
  • No lock-in contracts: Available
  • Free trial: None
  • Group fitness: Extensive

Think of F45 as Barry’s, except with a focus on large “community-style” functional workouts.

The 45-minute classes are challenging (intended for weight loss and muscle training), involving bodyweight exercises and equipment, with coaches and members that motivate and support.

What Are The Gym Benefits?

Functional fitness is all about movement and form for improving stamina and strength, and that’s exactly what F45 (Functional 45) offers.

Classes are large and fast-paced, but perfect for getting energized and burning calories – even long after the workout is done.

It might sound demanding but F45 invites all fitness levels to simply get fitter and get in the best shape of their lives.

Workouts involve different equipment, such as kettlebells, sled pushes, med balls, and battle ropes, so another benefit is that the workouts never get boring!

What Do You Need To Know Before Purchasing A Membership?

Prices differ between locations for F45, but here it’s $25 for 1 class, $109 for 5 classes, $199 for 10 classes, and $359 for 20 classes.

As for the membership, it’s $139 per month, which gives you 8 monthly classes. There’s also a First-100 Foundation Membership (unlimited classes and no lock-in contract) for $90 every 2 weeks.

Just want to check the place out first? Grab a 7-day trial for $7.

Are There Any Drawbacks?

Although F45 welcomes newbies of all ages and fitness levels, first-timers might get discouraged due to the high-energy, “push your limits” nature of these classes.

Who Should Work Out Here?

Enjoy group fitness and feel up for a challenge? F45 is what you’re looking for, especially if you don’t like Barry’s dark studios or prefer larger spaces to spread out.

If you think you’ll find the intense variety of exercises overwhelming or too demanding right now, maybe consider other options.
