5 Best Gyms In Bayside – New York

It’s fair to say that Bayside draws a specific demographic. It has a very suburban feel with a large community of homeowners, but that doesn’t mean there’s a lack of good gyms! And to save you time, I’ve explored the area and rounded up the best ones.

The Best Gyms in Bayside are:

  • Vibez Studio – Best Group Classes for Women
  • Life Health Fitness – Best Choice of Group Classes & Facilities
  • Powerhouse Gym – Best All-Purpose Gym
  • Plasse Strength – Best for Personal Strength Training
  • Studio Square S – Best Boutique Studio for Pilates, Yoga, & Zumba

These made the cut for specific reasons, which you can find out below along with the benefits, drawbacks, membership prices, and my opinion on who should join and who should avoid. Don’t just sign up; know what you’re getting into first!

Does Bayside Have Good Gyms?

5 Best Gyms in Bayside - New York

Bayside is an upper middle class part of Queens, so don’t expect to find Planet Fitness here. That’s not a bad thing, though, as there are far better options for gym enthusiasts and others who are seeking first-rate fitness studios and boutique group fitness classes.

How Did I Pick The Best Gyms In Bayside?

1. Premium Appeal

If you’re moving to Bayside, there’s a good chance that quality is going to be a big factor in choosing your next gym or fitness studio. No worries – I’ve found the best premium gyms in Bayside, no matter whether you have an open-ended budget or not.

2. Cleanliness

Building on the above, I picked all the following gyms and fitness studios for their cleanliness, as well as the general maintenance of the equipment and workout spaces. In fact, no matter where you go to exercise, this should always be important.

3. Group Classes & Personal Training

Taking Bayside’s suburban setting into account (and the fact that most residents here are in their late 30s), I set out to hunt down the best group fitness classes and personal training services in the neighborhood.

Gyms In Bayside: 5 Best Options

1. Vibez Studio – Best Group Classes For Women

Vibez Studio Bayside NY
  • Website: https://www.vibezstudio.com/
  • Address: 32-43 Francis Lewis Boulevard (2nd Floor), Queens
  • Hours: Class-based
  • Price: $129 per month no contract or $109 per month with one-year contract, plus single and bulk class prices (listed below)
  • Sign up fees: None
  • No lock-in contracts: Available
  • Free trial: None
  • Group fitness: Extensive

First up, I love the look of Vibez. It calls itself a “nine-in-one” fitness studio, offering classes based on nine workout styles:

Pilates, pole dancing, dance fitness, yoga, boot camp, strength training, HIIT, aerial hammock, and barre. It’s chic and modern, also boasting a strong female community.

What Are The Gym Benefits?

Like to mix it up? You get nine exciting group classes here, all held in chic, neon-glowing studios. Choose the ones that appeal to you or challenge yourself across all classes – the choice is yours. Online classes and personal training are also available.

For women in Bayside, there’s nothing better, to be honest. Classes are dynamic, creative, and, most importantly, fun!.

You’ll make lots of female friends here while enjoying fast results, no matter whether you want to be stronger, slimmer, flexible, or more agile.

What Do You Need To Know Before Purchasing A Membership?

Memberships, giving you unlimited classes, are simple: $129 per month with no contract or $109 per month with a one-year contract. Alternatively, enjoy 6 months of unlimited classes for $645 upfront, or 1 year of unlimited classes for $1161 upfront.

Pilates Tower/Reformer classes are not included with the membership, however, costing $30 for 1 class or $250 for 10 classes.

If you just want to pay by the class, you can have one class for $15, 10 for $125, or 20 for $200. Just interested in pole dancing?

It’s $25 for 1 class or $225 for 10 classes. One-hour personal private training is $100 for 1 class or $275 for 3 classes. Duet and trio sessions are also available.

Are There Any Drawbacks?

Honestly, none. This is the most attractive boutique fitness studio for women in Queens.

Who Should Work Out Here?

Women who want a mixture of exciting group classes at a chic, female-centric boutique studio. There’s nothing to say that men aren’t allowed here but, in my opinion, this place just isn’t for guys.

2. Life Health Fitness – Best Choice Of Group Classes & Facilities

Life Health Fitness Bayside NY
  • Website: https://lifehealth-fitness.com/
  • Address: 10-24 154th St, Whitestone, Queens
  • Hours: Mon–Thu 5:30am–11pm, Fri 5:30am–10pm, Sun 7am–7pm
  • Price: From $60 a month
  • Sign up fees: None
  • No lock-in contracts: Available
  • Free trial: 3 days
  • Group fitness: Extensive

For a complete choice of group fitness classes for all ages, abilities, and genders, Life Health Fitness really stands out. It’s a full-service fitness club boasting multiple studios, superior machines and equipment, and certified trainers who know their stuff.

What Are The Gym Benefits?

Treadmill and weightlifting, abs, Pilates fusion, kickboxing, boxing, yoga (Vinyasa, Hatha, and power), Zumba, HIIT, boot camp, total body, cycling – this place every class you can ask for on a rotating schedule. Simply choose which ones you attend.

Classes aren’t all LHF offers, though, as the open gym is just as appealing. It’s contemporary, clean, and well-equipped, offering all the right tools you need to burn calories or put on muscle.

What Do You Need To Know Before Purchasing A Membership?

Annual memberships start from $60 per month. Month-to-month memberships are available but expect to pay more. There’s also an annual fee of $30.

Are There Any Drawbacks?

For one, you have to visit or contact them to know their exact membership plans. The annual fee isn’t great, nor is how you have to notify them in writing (with 30 days’ notice) to cancel. It’s an “exclusive” fitness studio, after all, hence the above.

Who Should Work Out Here?

Fitness enthusiasts who want a wide variety of group classes at a boutique studio with an exclusive feel. If hidden membership plans and iffy cancellation policies scare you, though, you’ll want to consider somewhere else.

3. Powerhouse Gym – Best All-Purpose Gym

Powerhouse Gym Bayside NY
  • Website: https://powerhousegym.com/locations/bayside/
  • Address: 3409 Francis Lewis Boulevard, Queens
  • Hours: Mon–Fri 5am–10pm, Sat–Sun 7am–9pm
  • Price: $99 monthly no commitment, $89.99 monthly for 12-month membership, and $79.99 monthly for 18-month membership – or pay one year upfront for $800
  • Sign up fees: None
  • No lock-in contracts: Available
  • Free trial: 1 day
  • Group fitness: Limited

If you don’t know about Powerhouse, it’s a premier gym chain with more than 300 locations worldwide. Their open gyms boast high-quality strength training equipment and cardio machines, along with optional group fitness classes and personal training.

What Are The Gym Benefits?

Powerhouse Gym Bayside is fully equipped and well-maintained. You’ll rarely have to wait for benches or machines as, like all Powerhouse gyms, there’s more than one of everything; there’s a free weight area, cardio area, and a large class studio across two floors.

Staff at Powerhouse are known for always being helpful, so expect that here too. There are showers and locker rooms (nice and clean), plus a juice/protein shake bar.

Everyone’s welcome at Powerhouse, so it doesn’t matter whether you’re a weightlifter, cardio junkie, or total newbie!

What Do You Need To Know Before Purchasing A Membership?

It costs $89.99 per month for a 12-month membership or $79.99 per month for an 18-month membership.

If you pay $800 upfront, you can get the 12-month membership for cheaper. Don’t want to commit? Month-to-month is $99 per month.

There’s an annual maintenance fee for all members, costing $39.99. Powerhouse Gym offers a free day pass if you just want to check the place out.

Are There Any Drawbacks?

The annual maintenance. And unlike other Powerhouse gyms I’ve been to, the equipment at Powerhouse Bayside looks older (not a drawback if you like “real” gyms, though) and there are fewer shower stalls here.

Who Should Work Out Here?

Gym-goers of all kinds who just want a no-nonsense open gym with high-quality equipment and a great atmosphere. Don’t join here, though, if you are hoping for extensive group classes, as Powerhouse Bayside only offers Zumba, yoga, and step classes.

4. Plasse Strength – Best For Personal Strength Training

Plasse Strength Bayside NY
  • Website: https://www.plassestrengthandfitness.com/
  • Address: 25-44 Francis Lewis Boulevard, Queens
  • Hours: Mon–Thu 7am–8pm, Fri 8am–3pm, Sat 8am–1pm, Sun 9am–12pm
  • Price: $55-1800 for single and bulk 30/60-minute personal training sessions
  • Sign up fees: None
  • No lock-in contracts: Available
  • Free trial: None
  • Group fitness: None

Plasse Fitness is a real strength training gym. It’s not as big as Powerhouse, but it has state-of-the-art machines and equipment with arguably the best personal training services in the neighborhood. Plasse is independently run, so staff and members are also more than friendly.

What Are The Gym Benefits?

This is a blacked-out iron paradise. It’s second to none if you’re looking for a premium weightlifting experience, boasting competition-level machines and equipment for powerlifting and bodybuilding.

Plasse Strength & Fitness is a personal training gym, however. You get put through a free assessment before becoming a member, so your program is fully personalized for maximum results. In other words, for newbies wanting to get big and strong—and fast—this is the place to go.

What Do You Need To Know Before Purchasing A Membership?

There are no memberships here, just 30 and 60-minute personal training sessions that can be purchased in bulk. Needless to say, the more you buy, the more you save.

30-minute sessions cost $55 for 1, $200 for 4, $376 for 8, and $540 for 12. 60-minute sessions cost $90 for 1, $348 for 4, $680 for 8, $960 for 12, and $1800 for 24.

Are There Any Drawbacks?

This isn’t an open gym, unfortunately, so you can’t just turn up and lift whenever you want. It’s session-based and you’re always assisted by a PT.

Who Should Work Out Here?

Newbies and aspiring powerlifters/bodybuilders who want one-on-one strength training from certified personal trainers (who also have backgrounds in weightlifting). This isn’t really the right scene for CrossFitters, though, and isn’t for anyone who wants open gym access!

5. Studio Square S – Best Boutique Studio For Pilates, Yoga, & Zumba

Studio Square S Bayside NY
  • Website: http://studiosquares.com/
  • Address: 165-19 Northern Boulevard (Floor 2), Flushing
  • Hours: Mon–Fri 8am–10pm, Sat 9am–5pm
  • Price: Classes are priced by single sessions, packages, and monthly memberships (see below)
  • Sign up fees: None
  • No lock-in contracts: Available
  • Free trial: None
  • Group fitness: Extensive

Can’t decide between yoga, Pilates, and Zumba? Studio Square S offers all three across four class formats: Pilates, mat (yoga, Zumba, and interval training), aerial yoga, and bungee fitness. It has expert instructors and stunning studio spaces designed for each class.

What Are The Gym Benefits?

Equipment at Studio Square S is state-of-the-art, spread across multiple bright and inviting studios where each class is held.

This boutique studio is run by a close team of experienced, certified instructors, so classes are focused, informative, and engaging.

If you’re especially bored of “ordinary” exercise routines, Studio Square S offers classes that will fire up your interest – maybe even lead you to a new passion! From Zumba to flying aerial yoga and bungee fitness, the group classes here are far from dull.

What Do You Need To Know Before Purchasing A Membership?

Firstly, Pilates/bungee fitness and group mat classes have separate monthly memberships and session packages. Don’t worry – I’ve explained it all below.

For Pilates and bungee fitness monthly memberships, it’s $152 for 1 class per week, $285 for 2 classes per week, and $402 for 3 classes a week.

Pilates packages are $40 for 1 session, $190 for 5, $370 for 10, and $700 for 20. Bungee fitness packages are $40 for 1 session, $175 for 5, and $300 for 10.

For group mat classes monthly memberships, it’s $79 for 1 class per week, $139 for 2 classes per week, $169 for 3 classes per week, and $199 for four classes per week. For packages, it’s $25 for 1 session, $100 for 5, $190 for 10, $340 for 20, and $750 for 50. Lastly, if you want private sessions, it’s $100 for one single session, $130 for one duet session, and $150 for one trio session.

Are There Any Drawbacks?

It’s pricey, but you can expect to get your money’s worth.

Who Should Work Out Here?

Women looking for professional, yet fun and engaging, Zumba, yoga, and Pilates classes (for fitness or recuperation) from a premier boutique studio. If you’re a guy, you’ll probably feel out of place, however.
