I included CrossFit 2024 in my review of the 5 best gyms in Austin so it definitely deserves a spot here. Its inclusive classes, expert coaches, and affordable monthly membership make it Austin’s best CrossFit gym overall, ideal for beginner and experienced CrossFitters.

What Are The Gym Benefits?

The best thing about CrossFit 2024 is that you can jump in no matter your fitness or skill level. People of all ages and abilities go here to hone their CrossFit skills or learn the basics, with a close-knit community that supports and builds each other up.

CrossFit 2024 offers foundation programs on top of its regular class schedule, plus skill sessions if you want to learn to, for example, handstand or muscle up. Nutrition coaching and personal training are also available, led by qualified coaches who know their stuff.

What Do You Need To Know Before Purchasing A Membership?

Here are your main options: unlimited classes for $210 month-to-month, 6 months of unlimited classes for $195, 12 months of unlimited classes for $180, or one year of unlimited classes for $2040 upfront.

Drop-in is $25 a day or $60 weekly, but these are only available “for experienced out-of-town CrossFitters only”.

The foundations program, comprising 3 1-hour one-on-one sessions, is $150. Or you can book 5 personal training sessions for $375 or 10 for $750.

Just want to train skills? Skill sessions last 30 minutes and are priced at $120 for 3 sessions and $200 for 5 sessions.

Are There Any Drawbacks?

Drop-ins are by schedule only, so you have to contact them to find out when you can go in.

Who Should Work Out Here?

If you’re new to CrossFit and worry about fitting in, this is a great place to start for its foundations programs and sense of inclusivity. But if you want a more modern “boutique” CrossFit gym or open gym access, you’ll want to look at other options.

2. Kawi CrossFit – Best Membership Options

Kawi CrossFit
  • Website: https://www.bekawi.com/
  • Address: 4812 East 7th Street, Austin
  • Hours: Class-based schedule (Monday to Sunday)
  • Price: Various (see below)
  • Sign up fees: None
  • No lock-in contracts: Available
  • Free trial: 1 free class
  • Group fitness: Extensive

“Kawi” means strength in Arabic, if you’re wondering. That’s what Kawi CrossFit aims to achieve, physically, mentally, and collectively as a gym. And alongside its top-notch CrossFit facility, it offers a range of programs with unique membership options.

What Are The Gym Benefits?

Kawi CrossFit runs a Monday–Saturday schedule with up to 5 daily classes, programs involving CrossFit, Olympic weightlifting, mobility, physique, and Kawi & Chill – a short dumbbell and jump rope workout designed for busy people.

And that’s where Kawi CrossFit stands out, as there’s also a “Weekend Warrior” membership for people who don’t have time to hit weekday classes. So the memberships are flexible and the workouts are diverse, with the bonus of open gym access on Sundays.

What Do You Need To Know Before Purchasing A Membership?

Attend 3 classes (CrossFit and Olympic weightlifting only) per week for $200/mo or unlimited classes for $230/mo.

If you can’t attend that many classes, there’s the Kawi & Chill membership for $20/mo and Weekend Warrior membership for $170/mo.

Otherwise, drop-in for $25, grab a 5-class pack for $100 or a 10-class pack for $180.

A free class trial is available but for locals only.

Are There Any Drawbacks?

Open gym access is available here—a good thing considering many CrossFit gyms don’t offer it—but it’s still only 2 hours on Sunday mornings.

Who Should Work Out Here?

Thanks to its Kawi & Chill and Weekend Warrior memberships, Kawi CrossFit is definitely a good choice if you struggle to find time to work out. But while it does offer open gym access, you’ll want to look elsewhere if you want more than 2 hours a week.

3. CrossFit Central – Best CrossFit Community

CrossFit Central
  • Website: https://www.crossfitcentral.com/downtown
  • Address: 410 Pressler St, Austin
  • Hours: Class-based schedule (Monday to Saturday)
  • Price: Various (see below)

CrossFit Central Downtown is one of Austin’s most popular CrossFit gyms – so it has an awesome community following. The gym itself is also large (a legit CrossFit warehouse), complete with an outdoor area for pull ups and functional fitness training.

What Are The Gym Benefits?

If you’re looking for a big CrossFit gym with a big community, CrossFit Central is it. You’ll feel right in the heart of Austin’s CrossFit scene here, with plenty of people to meet, experienced coaches to learn from, and CrossFit events to attend throughout the year.

Up to 8 classes are held on weekdays with plenty of open gym access thrown in – thanks to CCDT’s large indoor and outdoor gym. It’s a CrossFitter’s playground, to put it simply, and both beginner and experienced CrossFitters are welcome to join.

What Do You Need To Know Before Purchasing A Membership?

Unlimited membership is $64 per week and 2 weekly classes membership is $44 per week, both giving you access to CrossFit, Barbell, and Relentless HIIT programs (with 4 weeks’ commitment).

With the military? You can get a 10% discount on either membership.

Other than those, there’s a two-session beginners’ fundamentals orientation for $139. Experienced People familiar with CrossFit can also do a one-session fitness, goal, and nutrition orientation for $49.99. Private training is also available on request.

Are There Any Drawbacks?

There are no drop-in rates or class packages here – only memberships, orientations, and private training packages.

Who Should Work Out Here?

If you love CrossFit and want to be part of a big CrossFit community, CrossFit Central is well worth joining despite the more expensive price. If you want the flexibility of drop-in sessions and class packs, however, you’ll want to look elsewhere.

4. SoLa CrossFit – Best For Open Gym Access & Recovery

SoLa CrossFit
  • Website: https://solacrossfit.com/

It can be hard to find a CrossFit gym with open gym access and that’s why SoLa CrossFit has made this list. In addition to CrossFit classes, SoLa CrossFit offers daily open gym access and a Recovery Zone for winding down and rehabbing injuries.

What Are The Gym Benefits?

SoLa CrossFit is the only CrossFit gym on this list that’s open all week. And the schedule balances CrossFit classes, recovery sessions, and open gym access from early morning to early evening. So, it’s perfect if you know what you’re doing and just want to work out.

The open warehouse-style facility will make any CrossFitter feel at home, and there’s also The Recovery Zone, which offers a sauna, cold plunge, and Bulletproof Vibe Plate, plus Normatec compression boots. Personal training programs are available, too.

What Do You Need To Know Before Purchasing A Membership?

Here’s the thing: SoLa CrossFit discloses its prices. You get a free intro, then the coaches will discuss your options.

Are There Any Drawbacks?

Aside from the disclosed prices, none.

Who Should Work Out Here?

Without a doubt, experienced CrossFitters want more open gym access than classes. It’s also ideal if you care about recovery as much as working out. But for new CrossFitters who want back-to-back classes more than anything, I’d recommend a different CrossFit gym.

5. CrossFit Renew – Best For Personal Training
