There are a couple of reasons why I love Adam's classes and why I feel like I am reaching my goals each time I leave. He reads his students well, he has an agile, modern and innovative teaching style and he loves what he does which shows. Adam doesn't take no, or I can't, or it's too much..but he will read my face and tell me when to push harder. If I'm giving everything he just speaks encouragingly and I feel supported and gungho. He will come challenge me when we're doing strength training, tweaking my posture or lifting my leg to do a tougher excersize... but I've also seen him work tirelessly and patiently with beginners and those who are struggling and he will push them but only just passed their own challenge points. I think this "reading" quality is important for teachers to have. Adam doesn't simply yell himself hoarse driving his students to hurt themselves but he sees their needs and provides either encouragement or tough love. Adam's students- the only thing they have to do is show up. and try hard. This flexibility shows in his teaching methods too. He will try anything to get through to his students and to help them understand the techniques better. By making up funny names or using memory methods to teach his students not just the proper way to execute the technique but also the right way to think about strategy of juijitsu. He taught me to think forward and never give up. I'll never forget that.
