@$$ Kicking -- You will slip on your own sweat
The thing with METCON3 is the class structure changes every week, leaving no room for boredom (not that any of Rachel's classes are ever boring). The concept of the class is fairly simple: ten different workouts, all targeting a different muscle group, each for one minute; repeated three times, with a 90 second recovery between each ten minute set. Goal: total muscle overload. The class will be as hard as you make it, but with Rachel instructing, you want to push yourself to total muscle failure. You know when you go to do a push up and you literally can't push up off the ground? Yeah, that's right. She encourages you to push hard; and if you need to back off, that's fine! You'll be amazed at what your body can do with a little encouragement.
Not only does Rachel take the time to go through the class to make sure every person has the proper form (and, with a packed house, that's an impressive feat in and of itself), but Rachel actually knows what she is talking about! She practices what she preaches, and it's evident -- she structures the class so you have a balance of workouts; e.g., if you are doing a push-up set, the next set you will be doing will be a pulling set, so your muscles are balanced. You WILL feel muscles you didn't know you had the next morning, and you will thank Rachel for it (and, even if you take this class weekly, you will still wake up the next morning sore)! All of Rachel's classes are amazing; in my opinion she is on the best instructors in NYC and, because of her, I decided to join Equinox. Rock on! Oh, and her music choices = stellar!
