Lori's class is a pure heart-charger. I have experienced many instructors at Soul Cycle and hers is not only one of the most physically intense, it also always feels that it is that way for a reason. WAY beyond the mirror.
Lori is energetic, sassy, demanding, and extremely welcoming. While Soul Cycle may seem like a bit of a... brand... at times, it feels like Lori actually lives the words on the studio wall. She's not a diva, but she's definitely in control, and wants you to be accountable to yourself. And in my experience, she gives every bit of herself she can in that hot sweaty room to make sure that you are.
Lori pulls off a great mix of working hard on the bike (so she feels my pain) and working a ridiculous range of dance moves off of it (which pumps me up and helps me to forget it). And yes: she has turned up the resistance on me, but for me that has not felt intrusive. More like: someone has my back in this thing I’m striving for.
Lori does not just play your cousin’s Beyonce, or your nephew’s Eminem, or your sister’s Adele. Well: she DOES play them, sometimes (who doesn’t love to sing along?), but her music always has a twist. It’s a song you know but had forgotten about, never heard of but want to Spotify, a remix that gives you another angle. It’s not one decade, it’s not one style, it’s not one tempo—it’s just a great ride to connect to & hit the beat, beat, beat.
Lori feels REAL… and while she kicks your butt, she also seems to get the larger journey of this whole fitness kick. She’s a fabulous instructor to start with, and makes you WANT to grow with her.
